The manufacturing stamp on the underside of the pitcher dates from the period 1866 1875, the R mark indicates the year 1867 as the year of manufacture. La Faencerie de Gien was created in 1821 in Gien in the Loire Valley, in the heart of France. The 19th century gave birth to numerous production sites, heirs of the ceramists of past centuries.
