Lutine leaving Yarmouth Roads, UK, on the day of its final voyage, October 9th, 1799. Originally a French magicienne class frigate (32 guns), she had been captured by the British and rebuilt into a third rate frigate for the Royal Navy. The day she sank, she was transporting a large cargo of gold, the majority of which has never been recovered, despite dozens of efforts over the years to do so. All
