Song of Melancholy was of one Leilani Nepenthes's signature crosses and is believed to be Nepenthes boschiana x (spectabilis x veitchii). The male parent is the remarkable Nepenthes lowii x campanulata, one of the greatest Nepenthes hybrids ever produced.
